Who Are we?
about us
Oaklawn Group LLC was founded in 2007 by Jimmy J. Tran. Jimmy was born in Houston, where he first gained exposure to real estate. After graduating from high school, Jimmy received the prestigious Hunt Leadership Scholarship and graduated from SMU with 3 undergraduate degrees and a Masters. Immediately after graduating from SMU, Jimmy acquired his first property: a small 2 bedroom condo in Oaklawn, an eclectic and dynamic neighborhood in Dallas. After several years in Dallas, Jimmy went on to attend Harvard University where he received an MBA and MPA.
In 2007 while Jimmy was at Harvard, he founded Oaklawn Group LLC with his wife Lisa to invest and build their investment portfolio focused on real estate assets. Since then, Oaklawn Group LLC has expanded to other cash-flowing investments and has also participated as a limited partner in private deals and syndications. As much as we love assets and investments, the intent has always been to enable financial independence through passive income and long-term wealth.
We take pride in a “contrarian” approach and often invest in properties, asset types and neighborhoods that others would shy away from. We stand by doing the right thing and by serving the communities where we operate.
Why Financial Independence
We all work hard for our money and as such, we believe that our money should work hard for us. Oaklawn Group LLC is about investing but it is also about enabling a life where we can pursue passions without immediate regard for financial gain.
We are sharing our portfolio and investment approach in the hopes that it can also help others achieve financial independence, thereby enabling them to pursue their own passion and purpose.
What We Look For
